Cloudy, cool and windy ! We had a heck of a storm last night.....didn't last long, but sure packed a punch. Many trees down and damage from the winds. My girlfriend and I were sitting outside at Dairy Queen enjoying our ice cream.....while watching the clouds get darker and closer.....time to head home ! And the storm was right on our tail.
Coming across the overpass it hit ! The big orange barrels and road signs were blowing across the road......Made it home just in time..........
We were without power for several hours......and I didn't have any batteries in the radio , only one flashlight worked.....only a couple matches to light some candles.... ( NOT very well prepared for summer storms)
Thank goodness the power came on about 4 hours later....any longer and we would have been scooping water from the sump hole.
And the power went out again this morning.....and I didn't have any coffee !......So off to Burger King for coffee and breakfast....(thank goodness Jeff took my car out when he manually opened the garage door - that doesn't work either without electricity !) And then to Wal-mart to get new batteries !.......but Wal-mart was closed. Found some batteries at Target. I was not the only person there buying batteries and other things for roughing it without power. Also got a long lighter so I can light my candles.
I had planned to tell you about our first weekend at the lake.......but that will be for tomorrow.

May 26, Thursday and SUNNY !

Today is sunny - so far - This is the strangest weather this year.... I had such high hopes of getting in the garden early......before the weeds grew up knee high, but it is too wet. My flowers are all going to bloom too soon....the iris are short with huge buds on them ????.....just not quite right. Oh well, nothing we can do to change "Mother Nature".......so......I will do the best I can.

My hostas are growing very nicely ......................

Just a few tulips...........think I will plant LOTS more this fall !

Gustov is off to the groomers today.........he so, so badly needs a haircut....he is just miserable. I know, I know, most people do not groom this breed of dog......sorry..... but I want a happy dog for the summer...and he feels so much better. I will post pics of the before and after.....and you will see a happy, happy boy !

Memorial Day weekend is coming way too fast..........I think somebody put the days on fast forward. Time can't really go this fast - can it ?? I have too much to do......too many things I want to accomplish......too many friends I want to spend time with......and too many quilt shops yet to visit !

A beautiful Sunday

The sun is shining - finally ! And the weather man says the coming week will be dry.....with warmer temps ! Which means I won't have time to page through the quilt magazine and dream of making the new patterns I see .
It is time to get busy and get the flowerbeds weeded out......they are not too bad....but the darn weeds grow in the cool weather ! I am trying to discourage the pair of barn swallows from building their nest on the top of my OPEN window - I think it is the same pair that was here last year....they can build on the light (it is the least bothersome spot I guess) poor birds need to build and nest too !

It is these sunny days......that I am home.......that I just go nuts trying to do all the things that need to be done !......Too many things that all need doing at once ! I am not the best at multi-tasking so I spend part of my time spinning in circles. My friend told me something a few years ago.....and it plays over and over in my head "As much time as you have - that's how long it will take"........and it is so true !! ......... I seem to get more done under pressure.
I wish I had the power of "Jeannie"......some of you remember her - she just twitches her nose and it is DONE. I seem to be more like the Peanuts character who always has a cloud of dust and clutter following him around.....can't think of his name right now.

So now that I have had a moment to regroup..........it is time to get back to the tasks at hand.

A cool day today............ Good day to watch the eagles.

Cloudy and cool today........ not a day to work outside.......so it is an inside work day !

Not much going on......... Too wet to work in the flowers beds and the garden spot.

Instead of sitting on the chair.......I better get busy !!

Last weekend was our oldest grandson's confirmation and birthday.......so I have to go back and share a few pictures of the day......

Our gift to Taylor is a trip to China later this summer! Grandpa and Taylor are really looking forward to it !.........so I am sure I will get a few pictures of that trip.

LOL...... a decorated cookie ...............

I have seen the weather forecast for the next 7 days......and it looked full of rain !.....so better enjoy today while I can.

Yesterday it rained.....and in the evening I looked out my sewing room window to see this beautiful rainbow.....

This morning the sun was shining......and it has been nice all day !! This is the basket that the finches are building their nest in.

After the events of the last couple days.....I was sitting an having breakfast and saw the flag waving.......and again said how thankful I am to be living in a country like the United States of America. The flag was so pretty flying against the blue morning sky.

I was at Burger King...........having my favorite french toast sticks.....ok.....I know they are not very good for me.......but I sure enjoy them.

And their coffee is pretty good too !!

Then it was off to run errands...... several places I needed to go......had my list and was running up and down the busy streets. I got my errands done.....filled up the gas tank ! YIKES !!..... I am not driving a semi !! - but it is a jolt when it costs me $68.00 for gas, a car wash and a coke.

So.......that was yesterday.......and today I have been home working around the house and working on my many sewing projects.........and we have rain today...UGH.....

Good thing I have my clean van in the garage !.....

Now to try to catch up on reading a few of my favorite blogs.
