Another fire last night

Sorry that I have not been keeping up with my blog while I was gone on my trip....... I was taking pictures as I went........and I will share them with you and tell you about my trip........but I have many things going on at once and I am just not very fast. I had planned on blogging as I went......BUT I was not paying for Internet in the hotel we stayed at.... in this day and age I can't believe they are still trying to charge you for Internet when you can go to McDonald's and get free Internet.....silly people.
Went back to work on Monday....and I work Wednesday and Friday too. .....now I know many of you work many more hours than that a week......but I just don't move as fast as I used to....ha ha ha.....
Last night I was watching the local news and there was breaking news of a large apartment building in south Fargo on fire...... My girlfriend and I were going out for coffee and we drove near the area.........NOT driving to get right next to the fire like too many people were doing.... we were sitting at a Dairy Queen about 5 or 6 blocks away watching and worrying about those who lived there. Talking to my daughter later she told me a good friend of hers and her 3 year old daughter lived there.....they were on the 3rd floor, which is where the fire was the worst...it got in the attic area of the building and spread very fast. This girl and her daughter escaped with only what they were wearing and her purse.....they lost everything. I am going to work on making a little quilt and a pillowcase for this little girl. She loves "Princesses" and I found some princess fabric so need to get busy on that.
They are asking for help for these 150 people who are now without a place to live and they are saying the response is wonderful from the area and Red Cross and other organizations are helping with many things. This was also a "pet friendly" building and the Humane Society is helping them house their pets that were rescued till they find a place to live.

Then I will get back to my pictures and blogging about my trip........so just wanted to let you know that my girlfriend and I had a great vacation.........visited lots of quilt shops and did a little shopping...(LOL) along the way, at the show, and on the way home.

what a day !

What a day !! ......be at work at 7am.....hurry, hurry, get stuff done......then the store just dies....nobody coming in....So I went home early...... TONS of stuff to do here !!.....Wash clothes, dogs in and out....clean out car......dogs in and out......and so it goes.

It was a beautiful day tho.....warm and sunny...... AND sounds like we might have a few more nice days.

I am busy trying to get ready for my trip !! yeah !!! .......Road Trip !!

I will be taking pictures as I go and try to get to my blog now and then.....if not....You will know I am having too much fun shopping at the quilt shops !!!!

Rainy day.......

Just anther rainy Thursday.........and they say it will last most of the day. Off to take my van in for a checkup. Need to check over stuff before I head out on my vacation.
The dogs are eating breakfast.....and I am gathering my book and things to sit at McDonald's and drink coffee till my van is ready. Sounds exciting doesn't it.
If anything more exciting happens......I will let you know.

Fall is in the air..................

Fall is in the air............ So far this is all the decorating I have done ! I have to dig out my Halloween decorations.....soon......very soon.
I am back working at the mall....working days so I really enjoy getting up in the morning and heading out in the morning sun....well some days we have sun. Our weather has been really nice.... as least I think so. The cool air and the warm sun is my favorite kind of weather. Then we have some days of rain in there.....and in Bismarck ND the other day - they had snow ! Real SNOW ! Now, it is too early to have snow....but it can happen. There was a freeze advisory for us the other night.

I have to share that my friends who lost their home to fire a couple weeks ago - have a place to stay now.....they are getting the insurance for their car they lost..... so they are slowly getting things back to a "sort of normal" state. I just shiver every time I think of what they must be going thru....but there are many GOOD people out there who have helped them get the necessary items they need to start resuming a normal life. Shhhh - don't tell her but I am collecting quilt blocks to make them a quilt. It may not get done till about Christmas time... I have to wait to collects blocks. They are coming from all over the US and Canada.

I am heading down to the lake cabin to help Jeff get the jet skis put away and things closed up for winter.......can't believe the lake season went by so quick. I am already waiting for next spring to come !

More later.......and I will try to write sooner....... Have some great bowling pictures I took of my Grandson bowling yesterday.

another rainy night

Wednesday.......

This is the peach pie I made last weekend.............it sure was good !!!(guess I got the pictures backwards)

Today looks like the nicest day of the week.... We got 4.75 inches of rain on Monday afternoon and through the night.
Got home just in time on Monday to get the grass cut before the rain.

Today I go back to work - Yep, back out in the world. I am looking forward to it - Maybe I will get more energy this way. I kind of ran out of steam at the end of summer.

Please add a prayer for a quilting friend of mine who lost her home to fire the other night.. Her and her husband made it out - but only with the clothes they were wearing. They lost their cars and their beloved dogs. Makes you realize how fast your life can change...... and that we better appreciate all that we have. Maybe that makes me sound "materialistic" but I don't mean it that way... guess we all need "stuff" like a house and food and for all of that to be suddenly gone..... wow..... I would not know where to turn.

It is time to get ready to head to the mall and see what is NEW there !!...... All the fall and winter thing are finding their way in the stores ! ( I will let you know when the Christmas merchandise arrives! )

Not quite a hurricane... but sure not lake weather.

I got to the lake cabin on Thursday about 6:00pm. It was breezy and then we had a downpour just as I finished unloading my van. After the rain the wind came.....and it blew and blew all night long....... After walking the dogs this morning I tried to capture some of the waves....... I will have to keep a close eye on the pontoon and jet skis.......hope they stay put!

They are no where near hurricane winds......but "us summer people" don't usually see these fall like winds on the lake.

Too bad that this Labor Day weekend isn't going to be a "play in the water" weekend.....not sure we will even get a pontoon ride unless the wind quits !

I brought along my sewing machine and some projects to work on !.....

It looks to be clearing from the west now......maybe this wind will blow itself out !......
