Merry Christmas Everyone......
Here in North Dakota we are having a good ol'fashion blizzard. Have not had one of those for years !! Too bad it happened over Christmas - I am sure it changes alot of people's plans....I know it changed ours. On Tuesday they put my husband in the hospital....severe pain in his leg and hip...what we thought was a "skeletal" thing.... turns out is some kind of absess and they are draining it now....so...we will see what more tests show.
So..... I am home and snug here.....saving my energy to shovel the driveway when this snow and wind quit. I hope to head to my sewing room !! ..... The dogs are in and out....bounding thru the snow !!

As 2009 comes to an end.
Today is December 21,2009...........They call this day the "First Day of Winter"....and also the beginning of "Winter Solstice"........ I am not real schooled on all the things about Winter Solstice... but it is on my list of "things to learn about".
The first order of business for me is to report on the weather..... Here in eastern North Dakota we have some snow... some icy spots...... but not too bad.... And we are seeing forecasts in the 20's for the upcoming days.
I hope you are all ready for Christmas - I thought I had alot of time (I always think that) and then the last few weeks go by too fast and here we are - just a couple days away and I am not ready. No baking is done, no wrapping is done, no decorating is done..... But then most of that is over rated anyway. I do have my food lined up ready for Christmas Eve.....All the good things! My daughter and I are having potato balls with side pork and salt pork. I also have the nibbley foods - lefse, pickled herring, olives, pickles, summer sausage, cheese, crackers, little weinies, little meatballs....maybe some bars with marshmellows and butterscotch chips...they shouldn't be too hard to make. And Jeff is going to make little pizzas for the Grandsons - with whatever toppings they want! So that along with some apple cider and coffee.......that should be just fine.
There will also be some gifts......they may be passed around wrapped in grocery bags.

August 31,......summer's end.
Today is August 31, 2009... the end of summer, BUT we could get some very nice days in Sept....I hope so.. the summer seemed very short and not many "hot summer days".
Next weekend usually signals the end of the "going to the lake season"......time to haul up the dock and boat lifts....clean out the cupboards and haul the food back home.
So.....what are your plans for fall ??..... I always get the urge to go through stuff - which is a good thing!.....and it is never too early to start planning the list for Christmas gifts for the family.
I am also going to post more to the blog....and I will update you on my projects as I go.
In the sewing department I am making a jean quilt....this is a special gift for someone so I can't say anymore..!
Time to go see what the dogs are up to......... till next time......keep sifting through the layers or your life.

Summertime.........
Here it is the middle of June..... our summers are too short here in North Dakota. I am hoping for the next 3 months (at least) of beautiful weather. I am going to spend more time at the lake cabin this summer..... just to relax and read and walk and enjoy the summer. I just have alot of "sifting" to do and want to explore my options and decide what is the next path I take.
Yesterday I attended a workshop titled "Is Your Genius At Work"..... it was very interesting and rather insightful - not that I am sure I have discovered what my "Genius" is yet....... but I think I am on the right path. I was surprised that I knew others who were attending the workshop and it was amazing to see how people worked thru and came up with their unique genius that really identified who they are and what they stand for. So I will keep you updated and let you know when I "hit" on what my genius really is. If you are interested in finding out more about this......please read the book IS YOUR GENIUS AT WORK by Dick Richards.
And speaking of books..... I have to tell you that my husband, Jeff Voorhees, is now a published author !! A Mastermind group that he belongs to has published a book tited "Inviting Dialogue" by Jodee bock and Brenda Levos. This book is inspiring stories about the power of the master mind written by the members of a Master Mind group. The book is available thru Amazon.com and at our local book stores. There dear - How is that for a plug !!!
And the sky is clouding up.....so I better get out and get the grass cut.
Till next time........... and may you all be sifting through your layers too......

Thursday - May 21
A beautiful sunny day ! We need more of those - our spring and summer is slow to get going this year. After the flood of 2009 we really need a summer of nice weather. People are just a bit stressed around here and I am sure we are all hoping for a fun summer.
It is that time of year again when we "head to the lake".... and now the packing and moving starts all over again. It takes several weekends to get the things we need.....and just about the time you have everything you need......it is September and you have to haul it all back home again. So this year I am just going to take the important things.....dog food and BEER !
I have to learn how to put pictures on here.... then I won't have to write as much.
Time to get busy for the day !!
.........till next time.

City wide Sales
Today is the city-wide rummage sales...and as usual I didn't get as much done as I wanted to.
Most of all we want to advertise our boat for sale.. not really a rummage item- but we would love to sell it.
Normally I so dislike rummage sales - you put .25 on something and they want it CHEAPER !!
But we will see how it goes...... I will let you know.
